Punjab Govt to renovate Safari Zoo Lahore
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Okara Dr. Muhammad Wajid will be the Chairman of the Committee.
Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has approved a master plan to renovate Safari Zoo Lahore and a committee has been formed for the purchase of animals.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Okara Dr. Muhammad Wajid will be the Chairman of the Committee. DG Wildlife and Parks has issued a notification.
Punjab University Professor of Zoology Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Pakistan Wildlife Foundation Chairman Dr. Waseem Ahmad Khan, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore Dr. Asim Khalid, Head Office Lahore Monitoring and Elevation Officer Adil Nadeem, Veterinary Officer Safari Zoo are in the committee. Dr. Mohammad Rizwan and Veterinary Officer Lahore Zoo Dr. Mujahid Khalid will be members.
Committee Facilitates quarantine of breeder/keeper before transfer of animals imported from abroad, inspection after transfer of animals during quarantine period in Pakistan, breeding of animals by supplier, quarantine certificate, permit, health certificates, d. The NA will be responsible for verifying the authenticity of the certificates.
Similarly, the committee will also be responsible for the preparation of the plan for animal food and proper housing, the capacity of the zoo and the necessary measures to prevent diseases in the animal population.
