Chennai: 18-Year-Old Girl Abused by Rickshaw Driver, Suspects Arrested

After boarding the rickshaw, the victim requested the driver, Mohan, to take her to the nearest police station.

In the Indian city of Chennai, a rickshaw driver, along with an accomplice, kidnapped an 18-year-old girl and subjected her to sexual assault.

According to Indian media, police arrested two individuals on charges of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 18-year-old girl on the night of February 4 in Chennai.

With the help of CCTV footage, police detained five suspects for investigation, leading to the arrest of a rickshaw driver, Mathumal Selvan, and his accomplice, Dilan.

Dilan previously committed various crimes.

According to the incident details, the victim had arrived in Chennai from Salem and was waiting for a bus to Madhavaram when two men forcibly took her into an auto-rickshaw.

The suspects threatened her with a knife, assaulted her, and later put her in another rickshaw, instructing the driver to drop her at the bus stop.

After boarding the rickshaw, the victim requested the driver, Mohan, to take her to the nearest police station.

However, she later changed her mind and requested to return to the location where kidnappers had taken her.

The rickshaw driver suspected that someone had assaulted the girl during the journey.

He contacted her family using his mobile phone and immediately informed the police, who then took the girl into their custody.
