CM Sindh Threatens Contempt of Court Over Jinnah Hospital Issue

Due to the lack of new temporary jobs in 2025, millions of patients are being deprived of this right.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has stated that the issue of Jinnah Hospital has been in court for two months.

He emphasized that free treatment is a basic right of all citizens.

Due to the lack of new temporary jobs in 2025, millions of patients are being deprived of this right.

In 2011, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) had a capacity of 1185 beds, and 2339 employees worked there.

His government has increased the capacity to 2208 beds by 2024, but the number of employees has decreased to 1498. Some institutions have people who have been working on extensions for centuries.

Whenever I make an appointment, people from that institution leave. Karachi faces many issues, but we have solved a lot.

He shared these thoughts while addressing a meeting, speaking with journalists, and inaugurating Rescue 1122’s new highway operations.

Furthermore, a judicial stay order concerning 19 employees is depriving 2025 people of their fundamental right to employment.

The Chief Minister said that to resolve these issues, the Oversight Committee (OSC) should ensure that the hospital operates efficiently so that no individual or group interferes with patients’ basic rights.

He further stated that, considering the challenges, he has decided to manage two hospitals, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) and the National Institute of Child Health (NICH), through the Oversight Committee.

He has also instructed his legal team to reinstate the Executive Director of JPMC to ensure that the country’s largest hospital can operate properly in the public’s interest.

The Chief Minister stated that to accommodate the additional 1023 beds, the Sindh government has created 2025 temporary clinical positions, including 563 FCPS doctors, 878 nurses, and 584 technicians, to provide qualified individuals with employment and standard service.
