Flour mills in Pakistan closed on withholding tax dispute

Due to the strike of flour mills, there is a serious fear of flour crisis across Pakistan.

Flour mills across Pakistan have been closed for an indefinite period due to the withholding tax dispute.

According to the details, Flour Mills Association says that more than 1500 flour mills across the country have stopped wheat washing. Deadlock continues in flour mills and wholesalers.

Flour packing and delivery will be completely stopped from today. Tax collection is the job of FBR, flour mills cannot become tax collection agents.

In this regard, Chairman Flour Mills Association (South Zone) Amir Abdullah says that the supply of wheat products from flour mills has been stopped.

Amir Abdullah says that flour mills have stopped production due to the implementation of withholding tax on wheat products in the budget.

Chairman Flour Mills Association (South Zone) says that the supply of wheat products will remain closed until the demand is approved.

Lahore Flour Mills Association Chairman Asim Raza has said that flour mills have stopped wheat grinding and flour supply from today.

Flour Mills Association says that 1500 mill owners have gone on strike, flour dealers from across the country have also joined the strike.

Asim Raza said that we will not collect the withholding tax, the bag of flour will become expensive by Rs 200 due to the withholding tax.

Flour Mills Association Rawalpindi joins Strike

On the other hand, on the call of Pakistan Flour Mills Association, there is a strike in Rawalpindi as well, crushing of wheat in flour mills has been stopped.

The mill owners say that there has never been a withholding tax on flour in the history of the country, withholding tax on wheat and flour, direct and indirect taxes are not approved, flour mills will be completely closed until the return of additional taxes.

Quetta Mills Association Joins Strike

On the call of Pakistan Flour Mills Association, flour mill owners have gone on strike in Quetta as well. Due to the strike of flour mill owners, wheat grinding work has been stopped in flour mills.

Pakistan Flour Mills Association Balochistan leader Naeem Agha says that there are about 25 flour mills in Quetta, Balochistan has about 40 flour mills in total.

Naeem Agha said that flour mills in Balochistan supply about 30,000 sacks of flour per day, the price of each sack will increase by 600 to 700 rupees with the imposition of tax by FBR.

He says that due to the strike of flour mills, there is a serious fear of flour crisis across the province including Quetta.
