Google launches new update to use passkey instead of password

The world’s largest tech company and search engine Google is going to release a new update for its password manager.

This new update makes it easier for users to use the ‘passkey’ tool on Chrome web browser across multiple devices.

The ‘Passkey’ tool is essentially an alternative to passwords that users can use to sign in to Google services and other accounts.

Microsoft Start reports that the tool is currently only available to Android users. Users required to scan a QR code to use the tool on other devices.

Now after the recent update the ‘Passkey’ tool can be used to login to different accounts in any device.

The tech company Google has stated that this new tool for Google Chrome will be available on Android devices as well as Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems.

The new update is currently in beta testing for Chrome OS, but the company says that iOS support is also coming soon.

With this new update, once the ‘Passkey’ is saved, it will automatically connect with other devices using Google Password Manager, the company said.

Google also says that this data is end-to-end encrypted, making it very difficult for a hacker to gain access to the data and steal it.

It is worth noting here that ‘passkeys’ are different from traditional passwords as they are digital credentials designed to allow users to sign in to various accounts without passwords.

It should be noted that the company has been using ‘passkeys’ in its software suite since last year.
