WBCC Revokes India’s 2025 Blind Women’s T20 Hosting Rights

India has been stripped of its hosting rights for the 2025 Blind Women’s T20 World Cup.

India’s refusal to grant visas to Pakistan’s team sparks decision to withdraw hosting privileges.

India has been stripped of its hosting rights for the 2025 Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, following the nation’s ongoing refusal to grant visas for Pakistan’s participation in the current men’s Blind T20 World Cup.

This move comes amid rising tensions over India’s consistent denial of visa requests and no-objection certificates (NOCs) for Pakistani teams.

The World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) reached this conclusion during a meeting held in Multan, where India’s visa restrictions prompted heated discussions among officials.

The denial of entry for Pakistan’s blind cricket team to the 2022 Blind World Cup was also highlighted as a key factor behind the decision to revoke India’s hosting rights.

In light of these ongoing issues, the WBCC has announced a policy shift, declaring that both India and Pakistan will not be allowed to host international blind cricket events until the diplomatic tensions between the two countries are resolved.

Events will instead be held at neutral venues to ensure participation is not hindered by visa or NOC-related obstacles.

Additionally, the council confirmed the re-election of Syed Sultan Shah from Pakistan as the chairman of the WBCC.

Meanwhile, Pakistan secured a dominant 10-wicket win over Nepal in the first semi-final of the ongoing Blind T20 World Cup 2024 at Multan Cricket Stadium.

The team comfortably chased down a target of 95 runs in just 5.3 overs, setting up a final clash against Bangladesh, scheduled for Tuesday at the same venue.
