Levies Soldier Martyred in Terror Attack on Balochistan Checkpost

Terrorists attacked a security checkpost in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Sunday, martyring a Levies soldier and injuring two others.

According to a provincial government spokesperson, the terrorists fled after facing retaliation from the security personnel. Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack.

The body of the martyred soldier and the injured personnel were shifted to a hospital in Quetta for medical treatment and necessary legal procedures.

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to locate any remaining terrorists.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and expressed his condolences to the family of the martyred soldier, Ali Nawaz. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured personnel.

The country has seen a surge in militant activities, with a 42% increase in terror attacks in January 2025 compared to the previous month, according to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained the worst-affected province, followed by Balochistan.

KP’s settled districts witnessed 27 attacks, resulting in 19 fatalities, while the tribal districts reported 19 attacks, leading to 46 deaths.

The security forces continue their efforts to eliminate terrorism and ensure stability in the region.
