Maryam’s Take on Karachi Traders’ Dialogue: Flattering Words Are Not the Real Narrative
She added that while the government is working on policies to ease the burden on the business community, it must also be clear-eyed about the challenges it faces.
The ongoing Karachi traders’ dialogue has taken a new turn with Maryam, the spokesperson of the Sindh government, stepping in to respond to the situation.
In her address, Maryam stressed that the true concerns of Karachi’s traders should not be drowned out by the flattering words of individuals with their own agendas.
Her words came after recent debates and discussions in which certain figures were seen giving exaggerated praise or promises that Maryam believes do not align with the traders’ true needs.
In her statement, she expressed that the traders’ narrative must be driven by real issues rather than superficial statements aimed at appeasing certain sections of the business community.
According to Maryam, the traders of Karachi, who form the backbone of Pakistan’s economic activity, require a more substantial, long-term strategy that addresses the real challenges they face in day-to-day business operations.
Maryam pointed out that while it is easy for certain politicians to make empty promises, the Sindh government is committed to ensuring that practical steps are taken to resolve issues such as rising electricity tariffs, complex taxation systems, and frequent disruptions in the supply chain.
She urged the traders to focus on pragmatic solutions that will have a real impact on their businesses.
The Sindh government, according to Maryam, is fully aware of the difficulties faced by Karachi traders.
She added that while the government is working on policies to ease the burden on the business community, it must also be clear-eyed about the challenges it faces. “Words of flattery are not the solution,” she remarked. Instead, she called for open dialogue between the government and traders to understand and address their concerns in a more structured and effective way.
