Elon Musk has urged Novak Djokovic to communicate directly with the public after the Serbian tennis star declined a post-match interview at the Australian Open 2025, following mocking remarks directed at him and his supporters.

After Djokovic’s straight-set victory over Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round, ending 6-3, 6-4, 7-6, the crowd disturbed him at Rod Laver Arena.

This led to Djokovic opting out of an interview with Jim Courier, a two-time Australian Open champion.

Djokovic later clarified his actions in a press conference and through a video message, revealing that Channel 9’s Tony Jones had mocked his fans and made derogatory comments about him during a broadcast.

The athlete noted that neither Jones nor the broadcaster had issued an apology for the incident, which influenced his decision to skip the interview.

Reports from The Free Press Journal indicated that Jones had made disparaging remarks, including calling Djokovic “overrated” and mocking Serbian fans, all while assuming they couldn’t hear him.
