New Zealand Beat Pakistan to Reach Women’s T20 Semi-Finals

In the final match of Group A in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, New Zealand defeat Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals.

New Zealand women’s team defeat Pakistan by 54 runs in a match played in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

After defeat in this Group A match, Pakistan and India journey to the mega event has come to an end while Asian champions Sri Lanka have already been eliminated.

Pakistan victory in this all-important match gave India hope of going ahead in the event, which was dashed by a poor performance by the green shirts.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 110 for 6 in the allotted overs and setting a target of 111 for Pakistan.

Ashra Sindhu of Green Shirts got 3 wickets for 14 runs while Sadia Iqbal, Nida Dar, Umiya Sohail got 1, 1 wickets.

Chasing the target, the Pakistani team was bowled out for just 56 runs in 11.4 overs, captain Fatima Sana being the leading batsman with 21 runs.

Among the other players, Muneeba Ali 15, Nida Dar 9, Iram Javed 3, Sadaf Shams and Omaima Sohail scored 2 runs, while Aliya Riaz, Sidra Amin, Aroob Shah and Sadia Iqbal returned to the pavilion for zero.

In the event, after Australia from Group A, New Zealand has also qualified for the semi-finals, while the teams qualifying from Group B will be decided after the match between England and West Indies.
