GOP Cabinet Division issues Public and Optional Holidays Notification for 2025

According to the notification, the first public holiday of the year 2025 will be on February 5.

The Cabinet Division of Pakistan has released the Public and Optional Holidays For the Calendar Year 2025.

According to the notification, the first public holiday of the year 2025 will be on February 5, followed by Pakistan Day on March 23, and three days off for Eid-ul-Fitr in the end of March and beginning of April.

Labour Day will be observed on May 1, 2025 and Youm-e-Takbeer, marking Pakistan’s nuclear tests, will be a holiday on May 28.

Holidays for Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on 7 to 9 June, with Ashura on Muharram 9 and 10 falling on July 5 and 6. Independence Day will be celebrated on August 14 with a public holiday.

Additionally, Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on September 5 or 6, and Iqbal Day will be a holiday on November 9.

The final public holiday of the year will be on December 25, for Quaid-e-Azam Day, while the day after Christmas will also be a day off for Christians only.

The following dates will be observed as bank holidays. However, the Banks/DFIs/MFBs will remain closed to the public, but employees will still be required to report for work, as per the notification.

The notification issued by the Cabinet Division also announced optional holidays for individuals, which are observed on different dates throughout the year, depending on their religious and personal beliefs.
