Apple Delays Key AI Upgrades for Siri Until 2026

Apple has pushed back some of its planned artificial intelligence enhancements for Siri, originally scheduled for release in 2025, to 2026. The company did not disclose specific reasons for the delay.

The tech giant has been working on a more advanced Siri, designed to offer deeper personalization and better integration across apps. Apple stated, “It’s going to take us longer than expected to deliver these features, and we now anticipate rolling them out next year.”

Apple previously introduced its Apple Intelligence initiative, promising AI-driven features such as email summarization and message rewriting.

A major highlight was Siri’s improved ability to navigate apps and complete tasks based on user data stored on Apple devices.

Examples included retrieving a podcast recommended by a friend or accessing flight tracking details from a relative’s messages.

To support these advancements while maintaining its privacy-first approach, Apple has been building a robust cloud computing infrastructure powered by its own chips. Siri currently handles 1.5 billion user requests daily.

Meanwhile, competitors are aggressively integrating AI into their voice assistants.

Google incorporated its Gemini AI model into its assistant last year, and Amazon recently unveiled an AI-powered update to Alexa.

Amazon’s new capabilities will be free for Prime members, while other users will need to pay a $19.99 monthly subscription.

Apple’s AI-driven Siri enhancements remain highly anticipated, but users will have to wait until 2026 for the full rollout.
