Jansher Khan and Nicol David Inducted into PSA Hall of Fame
The PSA Hall of Fame, established earlier in 2024, aims to commemorate the sport’s most influential figures.
The Professional Squash Association (PSA) has honoured two legendary players, Jansher Khan of Pakistan and Nicol David of Masilya, by inducting them into its prestigious Hall of Fame.
The ceremony took place on December 1, 2024, at the Hong Kong Football Club, celebrating their monumental contributions to the sport.
A Historic Induction
Jansher Khan, an eight-time World Open champion and six-time British Open titleholder, joins the Hall of Fame as its third inductee.
Known for his unparalleled dominance, Jansher reached 118 finals and clinched a record 99 titles during his career, holding the world number one ranking for an astonishing 97 months.
In his remarks, Jansher reflected on the significance of Hong Kong in his career:
“Hong Kong feels like my second home. I’ve played and won the Hong Kong Open eight times, and it’s a privilege to be honoured here. This recognition is a true testament to the sport’s impact on my life.”
Introducing Jansher, current World No. 1 Ali Farag lauded his legacy:
“Jansher Khan’s achievements transcend squash. His records and influence make him, in my eyes and many others’, the greatest player of all time.”
Nicol David’s Historic Achievement
Nicol David, widely regarded as one of the greatest female squash players in history, becomes the fourth member of the Hall of Fame.
The Malaysian star dominated the women’s game, holding the world number one spot for nine consecutive years—a feat unparalleled in modern squash.
PSA Chief Executive Alex Gough highlighted David’s impact:
“Nicol’s achievements are extraordinary. She inspired countless players worldwide and continues to serve as a remarkable ambassador for the sport.”
David, who was recently honoured as the Deputy Chef de Mission for the Paris 2024 Olympics, expressed her gratitude for the recognition.
Hall of Fame’s Growing Legacy
The PSA Hall of Fame, established earlier in 2024, aims to commemorate the sport’s most influential figures.
Jansher Khan and Nicol David join Pakistan’s Jahangir Khan and New Zealand’s Susan Devoy as the initial inductees.
Notably, both male honorees hail from Pakistan, underscoring the nation’s historic dominance in squash.
PSA’s Alex Gough concluded the evening by emphasizing the indelible legacies of Jansher and Nicol:
The evening celebrated not just milestones but the indomitable spirit of squash, as these legends continue to inspire players and fans worldwide.
