Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Syed Ashiq Hussain Shah Kirmani, stated during a conversation with a delegation of journalists that opponents will gain nothing from spreading baseless propaganda. He emphasized that the target set by the Punjab government has not only been achieved but has also been surpassed.

He explained that trusting the promise made by Maryam Nawaz Sharif, farmers have successfully cultivated wheat on 16.3 million acres of land.

Farmers who show outstanding performance under the “High Yield Wheat Campaign” will be rewarded with prizes worth millions, including tractors and laser levellers. Additionally, the government will ensure farmers receive the promised support price for their produce.

Sale of Wheat Stock from Government Warehouses

In response to a question, Syed Ashiq Kirmani said that the wheat currently stored in government warehouses is being sold at a subsidized rate of PKR 2,900 per maund to empty the storage. This will make space for the upcoming wheat harvest in April, ensuring every grain is procured.

More Initiatives for Farmers

He highlighted the numerous schemes introduced by the Punjab government to address the challenges faced by the agriculture sector, ensuring greater benefits for farmers, especially small-scale ones.

Syed Ashiq Kirmani reiterated the government’s commitment to steering Pakistan’s farming community, the backbone of the country, towards prosperity.
