Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal Syed also directed to ensure the availability of fertilizers for the next crops.
The district administration should play an active role to encourage the cotton farmers to give them full compensation for their crop.
Abundant availability of fertilizers to the farmers and their sale at fixed prices should also be ensured.
This was said by Commissioner Sahiwal Division Shoaib Iqbal Syed while addressing the divisional review meeting of cotton crop in his office, in which relevant officers including Additional Commissioner Coordination Shafiq Ahmad Dogar, Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Ikram ul Haq and Director Agriculture Chaudhry Shahbaz Akhtar participated. .
Expressing satisfaction over the current production of cotton, he strictly directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the farmers get the government’s fixed compensation of Rs 8500 per 40kg.
He also directed the officers of the Agriculture Department to stay in the field and assist them in dealing with the possible attack of the harmful pests on the cotton crop.
Director Agriculture Chaudhry Shahbaz Akhtar said that till now 15 ginning factories of the division have produced 42914 bales out of which 39100 bales have been sold.
He said that services have been provided to 1825 farmers from 7 facility centers established for the convenience of farmers in each tehsil.
Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal Syed also directed to ensure the availability of fertilizers for the next crops and to take immediate notice of the complaints of their excessive price.
