The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will announce the general election schedule on December 17 (Sunday) in Islamabad. The elections will be held on February 8 next year.
Receipt of nomination papers will be started on the day following the announcement of the schedule.
Top ECP sources told reporters yesterday that the Election Commission has decided to give 54 days for the entire process, which will conclude on February 8 with polling for the national and provincial assemblies.
With the announcement of the election schedule, the entire administration of the federal and provincial governments will be obliged to assist the commission in conducting the elections.
