General Faiz’s Military Trial to Conclude Soon, Says Lawyer

The lawyer of the former DG ISI has expressed the hope that Lieutenant General (Retd) Faiz Hameed’s military trial will be completed in the next few weeks.

Speaking to The News, Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq stated that he, along with his two colleagues, is representing General Faiz in this case.

When asked whether General Faiz is going to become an approver against Imran Khan, Mian Ashfaq stated that he could not confirm such a thing because the proceedings of the case fall under the Official Secrets Act.

When asked about the commencement of the military trial against General Faiz, he did not deny it.

He mentioned that he has seen various media reports suggesting that the trial has begun, and he is not in a position to deny such news.

However, he confirmed that he, along with his two colleagues, is representing General Faiz in this case.

Referring to The News’s report about General Faiz strongly denying the allegations of leading Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Mian Ashfaq stated that all facts and statements made are very clear.

The News recently published a report that General Faiz believes that his political contacts after retirement were merely normal social interactions.

The ISPR further stated that these violations have compromised state security and interests.

Investigations are also ongoing regarding General Faiz’s role in the events of May 9, in collaboration with certain political interests.
