Regional Election Commission Sahiwal holds ceremony on Voter’s day
He said that voter education work is also going on in Sahiwal Division on National Voter's Day to make voters aware.
Regional Election Commissioner Sahiwal Syed Basit Ali has said that the Election Commission is taking effective and sufficient steps to strengthen the electoral system and fulfill the constitutional responsibility of conducting transparent elections.
He appealed to all the eligible voters to visit the polling stations to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming general elections.
He said that voter education work is also going on in Sahiwal Division on National Voter’s Day to make voters aware.
He said that the Election Commission has also completed the revision of the electoral rolls and people can check the vote details by sending sms their ID card number to 8300.
He said that the Election Commission has substantially reduced the gap between male and female voters in the voter lists.
This difference was 12 percent in 2018, but now this difference has reduced to 8 percent due to the efforts of Election Commission, NADRA and civil society.
Meanwhile, while addressing the function organized regarding Voter’s Day, District Election Commissioner Sahiwal Muhammad Atir Chaudhry said that the Election Commission is playing its constitutional role for the stability of democracy and democratic institutions.
The strength of democratic institutions is linked to the participation of voters in the electoral process. He said that voting is the first duty of every citizen.
